It’s been a while since i last wrote int his blog. Yes, this masters program is ‘eating’ my time. Well, I’m telling myself to hang-in-there. I’m doing ICU clerkship from Sept 8th until Oct 8th 08. For roughly a month. And I’m spending most of my fasting month doing this. It’s one of my 4 major clerkships (Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, Paediatric and ICU).
Doing this in fasting month is challenging for me. Well, i cant say much. Many of us do all kinds of work during fasting month. Ok, i cannot make it an excuse.
I’m lost of words now. I’ll write later when i have more interesting topic in mind.

Dear Pharmacy Colleagues and Friends,
The Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore will host the 22nd Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) Congress that will take place from the 7th to 10th of November 2008 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore.
This congress, with a timely theme of, “Translational Research: The Approach to Quality Healthcare”, will provide a platform for pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists and clinicians alike to interact and share their collaborative research and practical experiences in our efforts to achieve quality patient-oriented healthcare.
The 22nd FAPA Organising Committee promises a programme that will provide opportunities for delegates to showcase and discuss their translational research activities, which involve the application of scientific methodologies in pharmaceutical, clinical and population studies. The outcomes of such investigations may impact and improve healthcare in areas such as better drug delivery systems, cost-effective management of disease occurrence; reduction of morbidity and mortality in patients.
Singapore is situated in the heart of fascinating Southeast Asia where the East meets the West. Do join us at the 22nd FAPA Congress where I am sure you will be able to network and interact with many pharmacists from around the region and be enthralled by the blend of cultures, cuisine, arts, architecture and shopping that embrace the tradition and modernity of Singapore.
Come and have a unique and memorable experience with us in Singapore!
I had a late start today. Not a good one for a student. It’s been more than a month since i’ve started my Masters in Clinical Pharmacy prog in UKM (KL). Doing full time, so i should finish this in one year. My study leave will end on June 24th, 2009. Hmm..What have i done since i became a student again? I’ve registered for this prog on June 25th, 2008. Then, had da induction week where we had lectures merely to give a warm-up for us before receiving the Module lecture..
Then, Module 1 started with 2-weeks lecture.. Mainly on cardio diseases, drug induced cardio diseases, stroke, MI, DVT, renal diseases, drug-induced renal diseases, epilepsy etc. Then,i had my 4 weeks Internal Medicine clerkship in HUKM. At the end of the clerkship, we have to do a presentation in front of all our classmates + lecturers. The tricky part is that, my name was posted to be the first presenter.. Hmmm.. But i like being the 1st.. no need to worry much after that and can focus on others’ presentation. (it’s da same anyway, either being da early presenter or late presenter.. we still feel that the presentation is not well prepared)..
But, Dr.MMB commented on my presentation, “It’s interesting. Well, quite good for a first time. I cannot say it’s good..” OK.. I take it. I still want to do better..Had an intermittent sleep on the nite before.. Actually..I didnt complete what I’m suppose to present. Maybe this time is just my luck…

FINAL CALL FOR APPLICATION FOR SLAI/SLAB SCHOLArsHIP 2008
Please be informed that the Ministry has made a final call for application for SLAI/SLAB scholarship 2008. During a meeting with the Ministry and representatives of the public universities held recently, the universities have been requested to submit the list of academic staff members (DS45, DU45 and DA41) who will commence Ph.D/Masters in 2008. Based on the list, the Ministry will then be able to determine the needs for additional scholarship of the respective universities for both local and overseas studies.
The University aims to bid for more scholarship under the SLAI/SLAB for local and overseas studies and in order to succeed, the University must ensure that the list submitted consists of academic staff members who are committed and prepared to commence Ph.D/Masters before the end of 2008.
In light of the above, you are required to complete the form as per Attachment 2 and submit it via e-mail to najihah@iiu.edu.my at the Training (Academic) Unit, Management Services Division for submission to the Ministry on or before 15 April 2008. If we do not receive the completed form by the said date, your name will be excluded from the list.
Please be advised that in view of the high demand for SLAI/SLAB scholarship particularly for overseas studies and limited scholarship after 2008, we urge you to grab this final opportunity to secure the scholarship this year. If you fail to do so then it may affect your chances of securing a scholarship to further studies after 2008 and this will have a serious implication on your service with the University.
Please take note that the application forms for study leave and scholarship may be submitted after 15 April 2008.
